DIY Lovely Braided Bun

It's Monday and we figured it's time for a creative and new twist on a plain old bun. We first saw the lovely braid and bun combo on the actress Katherine Heigl in the film 'Life as We Know It'.
If you want a cute movie full of hair inspiration-check out that one! : ) We loved this bun and had our talented Leah figure it out for us.

If you know how to braid, this one is perfect for you! If you are still a newbie, find a friend/sister/mother/child and practice! It's cute and stylish which makes it a perfect combo!

Step 1: Do a nice side part and pick up approximately two inches of hair.

Step 2: Start an inside out braid. What's that? They are also called Dutch braids and if you are unsure how to do braid, check out this great video here

Step 3: Instead of gathering and plaiting your hair along your head (like a normal braid) pick up hair and braid from your hairline, and guide the braid towards your ear. Only pick up hair close to your hairline, not the hair in the middle, as you are making a bun with those lovely locks afterwards.

Step 4: Once you get to your ear, stop picking up hair and braid as normal to the end. Secure with a small elastic.

Step 5: Leaving the braid to the side, gather the rest of your hair into either a Sock Bun or if your hair is too thick try our: 5 min Sock Bun Without a Sock and bobby pin in place.

Step 6: Take the braid and wrap it around the bun, secure with bobby pins. There you go! Finished!
